Whittlebury Hall Hotel and Spa is located in the rural countryside of Northamptonshire, just a short ride away from Milton Keynes station.

Kully and Koulla get beauty-licious at Whittlebury Hall.

We’ve been ordered to unwind for the week, and at first glances this place looks like a pretty fabulous place to start.

The inside was just as impressive and it was love-at-first-sight with the super spacious day spa, which gives you loads of space to totally chill out. The long list of Elemis and E’Spa products show these beauty bods really know their stuff and there are loads of treatments you can choose from - ladies there is even a hair studio if you’re feeling the need for a total makeover.

Once we’d been welcomed and kitted out with fluffy white robes and slippers, the stress of earlier signal failures and angry commuters vanished along with our concept of reality and we were well and truly ready to try out some treatments.

We started by trying out the heat and ice facilities. Moving from steam room to steam room, raising our body temperatures before bravely plunging into the ice cave. Feels amazing, but it’ll make you squeal. This is great for circulation and also helps us with the battles of cellulite – every little helps in my case! Once we were fully invigorated, it was time for a dip in the hydrotherapy pool - this is a real treat with lots of different jets to get rid of the tension in your muscles. It’s a bit like a giant Jacuzzi and the hardest part has to be getting out.

After we finally dragged ourselves out of the water, we opted for the Rasul mud treatment – a salt scrub rubbed over the skin, then rinsed off leaving your skin soft and ready for the mud. In the chamber you are given three different types: one for your face, one for hair and one for your body. Once you are ‘caked’, you sit in the chamber while the room gets filled with steam. After 15 minutes, the showers above go into action to wash it all off.

Feeling softer than kittens we drifted off for our next treat - a relaxing dry floatation experience. We were very curious about this, as how could floatation possibly be dry? Was it just a terrible conspiracy? We lay down on a bed and the therapist rubbed a special salt scrub onto our skin, then wrapped us in a towel. The bed then fills up with water and you are raised up and left to float on what feels like the sea. It was like being on the water without getting wet! I was left to float for about half an hour and actually fell asleep it was so relaxing.

The rest of the day was spent rather lazily; we had a half-hearted attempt at using the gym and spent most of the time gossiping on the outdoor patio taking in our lovely surroundings. We were so peckish from all the pampering we treated ourselves to a delicious but healthy lunch. If you’re still hungry, the hotel has two dining rooms with a wide choice of food.

We were lucky enough to spend the night here too – the rooms were really comfortable and best of all they were filled with Molton Brown toiletries, well they were before we left!

All in all this is a great hotel with a fab day spa. It’s a short distance away from London, but far enough to feel like you are getting away from it all. Much recommended by both of us newly radiant ladies.
